AURORA RECEIVES AUDITOR OF STATE AWARD WITH DISTINCTION

Auditor of state award

The recent financial audit of the City of Aurora by the Auditor of State’s office has returned a clean audit report.  The city also received added recognition because of a heightened financial review that was completed, called the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).  In recognition of this financial accomplishment, Aurora Mayor Ann Womer Benjamin, City Council President George Horvat and Finance Director Tim Clymer were recently presented with the Auditor of State Award with Distinction by Jim Shaw, the Eastern Regional Liaison for Auditor Dave Yost’s office.  There are over 6,000 entities audited in Ohio and only 5% are even eligible for this special award.

To earn the award, Aurora filed timely financial reports and had no findings of deficiencies, questioned costs, or material citations, among other items, and completed a CAFR. Prior to receiving the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for 2017, Aurora had received the Auditor of State Award for the seven years prior.
